Dr Sung began his investment career at GIC in 1993 and retired in 2011 as Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer.
Since then, he has taken up advisory and board positions with different government bodies and financial institutions, including the finance ministries in Norway and Singapore, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Bank of Thailand, MIT Investment Management Company, Markit Ltd (now part of IHS Markit), Singapore’s Ministry of Health and NTUC Income Insurance Co-operative.
In 2015, Dr Sung co-founded Avanda Investment Management, a Singapore-based asset manager. Since retiring from Avanda in mid-2021, Dr Sung has been appointed to the boards and advisory panels of start-ups in diverse fields including sustainable investing, renewable energy, asset digitalisation and long/short equity investing.
